Welcome! my name is Hermela Welday. Growing up, I’ve had many cultures influencing my perspectives, views and ideas. I was born and raised in Addis, Ethiopia and came to the United States at the tender age of 13. In short, my life is a fusion of so many angles and cultures. My life in the US as a young, immigrant, educated, woman of color has been a very interesting journey. It has led me to question the many identities I have and the effects each one presented in my life, which has fueled my interests in identity politics. I’ve always wanted to create a space where I analyzed the many things in my life through short stories, poetry and spirituality, which are also my other interests. I graduated from the University of Maryland in 2011 and currently reside in the DMV area along with my beautiful family and friends. I have been an avid reader, story teller and creator as long as I remember. My passion for cultures, books, politics and love is what made me who I am today. I’m an intimate feeler, observer, passionate, intricate, lover of all things soulful, calm energy releaser, peace of mind seeker, activist, natural hair admirer and deep conversation seeker. I hope you enjoy my blog and get enlightened with me as we go through this journey called life together. Cheers!!!
